A mother and her five year old child were victims of Domestic Violence. For the sake of her young son and herself, the mother made the decision to leave the relationship but did not have a place to go. She was referred to Pathways Transitional Housing through Catholic Charities.
Pathways provided the mother and her child with housing and began to access the family’s needs. The child was enrolled in school, while the mother worked on her GED. Upon completion, the Pathways counselor connected the mother to a local area school of which the mother was able to obtain a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She is now working and can provide for her family and has become a productive citizen. Because he is no longer exposed to traumatic events due to Domestic Violence, the child is gaining confidence and is doing well in school.
